Last night, my wife and I ate at Dewey's pizza in Green Township. Not crowded at all but then I note an old grade school classmate at another table. Even back then he was a rabid UC fan even though his dad graduated from Xavier. He and all the others at the table were dressed in their Bearcat regalia getting ready to go to Nippert Stadium to watch the UC-Miami Hurricane game. I teased him about whether he would be seeing Greg Cook, Jim O'Brien, Brig Owens or even Clem Turner playing. Sure, he remembered those former UC gridders just as I recalled them from the days Xavier played them (even the Muskie victory where Clem Turner was stopped in the end zone for a safety (tackled by Steve Bailey, Denny Caponi or Jim Louder)).
Nice memories of XU-UC games at Nippert and kinda jealous of Bearcat fans being able to watch football on a fall night. Osh yeah, EBay has a postcard of Xavier stadium circa 1950's featuring the east side (Victory Parkway side) completely full. In color, too!
Oh well!
