Fordham at Bucknell
« on: November 21, 2016, 09:08:47 AM »
Dreary November Saturday; good day to watch a college football game. Don't have cable by choice so limited to FOX and ABC in the early afternoon. No game on Fox so it's going to be Wisconsin at Purdue. Once proud Boilermakers struggle at home at half-empty Ross-Ade stadium as Badgers roll. In Cincinnati, Channel 12 does have 12- which has games on. Flip the channel; and find a Patriot League game at Bucknell. Growing up, the weekly Prudential College scoreboard always seemed to include the Bucknell-Lehigh score even though they'd play only once a year but maybe I'm getting Lafayette mixed up in there as well. Anyway, the visitors are the Fordham Rams, a Jesuit school that is still able to play college football. The game is at Bucknell's quaint Christy Mathewson stadium which holds 13,000 fans. (Yes, that Christy Mathewson who, before he became a major league baseball Hall of Fame pitcher, was a fullback, punter and drop kicker for the Bison from 1898-1900.)

Very competitive game and fun to watch. Kind of the way it was on Victory Parkway years ago.
