Fordham at Holy Cross
« on: November 12, 2018, 04:29:11 PM »
Kid from Fordham kicked a 55 yard FG last weekend. Game was televised on the CW and visitors' side of stands was sparsely filled. No small feat (pun intended), the FG was made me recall UD's Greg Schwarber (Moeller grad) kicking 55 yarder at Corcoran to earn the Flyers a 28-28 tie with Xavier in 1973. Passing the football section at Cintas makes me wistful; and watching footage from Corcoran on the monitors gets me thinking that damn I miss Xavier football. Basketball is okay but gushing over Tyrique Jones' 20 rebounds against Evansville? Bob Pelkington averaged close to 22 rpg. at Schmidt. Steve Thomas, Bob Quick and Connie Warren were fun to watch as well.

I remember watching Steve Thomas, Bob Quick, Luther Rackley with my dad when I was a kid.  After graduation, Steve Thomas worked with my dad for a little while.

Steve Thomas' number 10 jersey should be up in the rafters at Cintas.

30 ppg as a junior (and he wasn't even the nation's leading scorer) and no three pointers. Wow!!
