Xavier's new president
« on: January 27, 2021, 11:17:07 AM »
After Fr. Graham departs this summer as President, he will be followed by Dr. Coleen Hanycz who hails from LaSalle University which had collegiate football from 1931-1941 (ended due to WWII). In 1997, LaSalle revived its program to compete in the MAAC conference but in 2007, it was discontinued it after a0-10 season and the MAAC disbanded soon after. Dr. Hanycz arrived at LaSalle in 2015 so she appears to have had no hand in LaSalle's football history. But if LaSalle could revive a program after 56 years then maybe Xavier could. LaSalle's discontinuance announcement referenced the MAAC's pending dissolution of its non-scholarship program. The Pioneer Football League has a stable history and has added two schools recently (Presbyterian and St. Thomas). The PFL also includes Stetson University which fielded football teams from 1901-1956; and only reinstituted the sport in 2013.

Hope springs eternal...
