New officers for club team
« on: May 02, 2024, 01:37:14 PM »
Over on Xavier football Twitter account, four new officer including Vaughn Cooper as president were announced a few days ago; and yesterday, past president Christian Barbour announced he was transferring to Kentucky. Not sure what all this means for this fall but I was made aware that yesterday at a local Chipotle, 25% of proceeds from sales 4-8 pm were to go to the club. I only learned of the fundraiser last evening.

Hopefully, the new board will post something here.

FWIW: I queried Xavier football on Twitter a few weeks ago as to any updates. No response. From this vantage point, a 2024 season looks to be in question. Perhaps things are happening that I am not aware of but it would be difficult to schedule games and promote them this close to fall.

I would think if they were really working on it, you’d be able to find information about it. Like you said, it will be very tough to put something together for the fall if the pieces weren’t already in place.

Bruce:

I enjoyed club football as it represents an honest and sincere effort to play football. With today?s NILs, portals, proposed power 5 NCAA settlements et. al. getting out of hand, college athletics is being further corrupted. The ?haves? will continue to rule; the ?have nots? will fade further back. Maybe it isn?t much different than the past but if the Pioneer Football League and FCS can live on then perhaps there is a place in college athletics where educational integrity can remain and the concept of an alma mater co-exists.
