August article on new football programs
« on: January 10, 2025, 05:26:07 PM »
I stumbled on this article and thought I had posted a link previously but it must have been a similar article during a previous year. I like thinking about Xavier football especially when neither the winter weather nor the Muskies BB TEAM inspire much. I mak e these posts from time to time; and assuming the views do not include repeat views, it does seem that the interest is there. So I keep posting in hopes that someday, in some form, it returns.

Didn’t read the complete article, but it seems moat of the schools adding football are going the D2, D3, or NAIA route. I guess club level would be one below that?  I’m still hoping it makes a comeback at X. I still have great memories of going to games with my dad on Victory Parkway and watching the team and band come out on to the field.

Likewise, Bruce. Attended many a Xavier football game at Corcoran Field with my dad and my siblings. Junior Musketeer Club and sitting in the end zone. Big deal for kids growing up watching football and having fun. Simply special memories especially recalling the one halftime where the band members played with lights affixed to their hats in a darkened stadium. And the crazy moves of a black drum major livening the show. The homecoming floats and parade around the stadium.

Very unique times.
