St. Mary of the Woods sprint football team is moves to NAIA football next year with 2025 being its last season in sprint football league (league with restricted weight limits that also includes Bellarmine in Louisville). SMOW doesn?t offer football scholarships.

A cursory look at SMEC 2025 roster list 74 players. A number are from out of state. Wonder how many attend because of football.

St. Mary of the Woods College was historically a female school with male enrollment beginning in 2005 at the earliest. Estimates of male enrollment range from 17-27%. Not hard to imagine that the school is seeking males to increase enrollment; and football is a draw. Interestingly, one site indicates that the only 30% of the enrollment is Catholic.
